Head of the Turkish Tourism Offices Federation, Mr. Bacharan Oluse, said that 2017 witnessed a significant increase in the number of tourists compared to 2016and that 2017 was a mean to increase the number of tourists coming to Turkey in 2018.
The year 2016 witnessed a decline in the number of tourists and income received from them, while this scene was turned into a positive scene in 2017 due to the increase in tourists’ number since the beginning of the year.
According to the data released, the number of tourists to Turkey increased by 28.1 percent to reach 29 million 53 thousand and 450, and by October 2016 we see that the increase was 22.16 percent in the number of tourists compared to the same month of last year.
Russian citizens were the most visited nationality in 2017. Iraqis came second, followed by Kazakhs, Saudis, Azerbaijanis, Ukrainians, Georgians, and Bulgarians.
Tourism revenues in Turkey increased by 16.15 percent in the first nine months of this year, bringing total revenues to 20 billion, 174 million and 467,000, which is also promising to increase the number of tourists in 2018.
