The first half of this year witnessed a marked increase in the number of properties sold to foreigners compared to the same period last year. The figures show that there was an increase of 2.3 percent, and that the number of properties sold to foreigners in the first half of last year was 9 thousand and 378, while this number reached this year to 9 thousand and 959 properties.
Experts estimate that this number is expected to reach as much as 23,000, which is the same number reached in 2015.
According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the proportion of properties sold to foreigners increased in April by 2.1 percent, while in May this figure reached 10 percent, and June has seen the highest increase of 24.8 percent, with the sale of a thousand and 926 apartments in this month only.
Istanbul was ranked the first among the cities where foreign investors were attracted to real estate. In June, 903 apartments were sold. Antalya came in second with 408 apartments and Bursa by 93, and Ayden by 77 apartments.
The first half of the year witnessed a high turnout by Iraqi and Saudi citizens in the first class in terms of turnout to real estate in Turkey. Kuwaitis, Russians, Afghans, Azerbaijanis and the English were among the top foreign nationals in Turkey also.
According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of apartments sold to foreigners in the last year of January was 1462 apartments, in February 1585 apartments and, in March 1595 apartments, in April reached to 1581 Apartment, in May 1612 apartments and in June reached 1543 apartments.
While in January this number reached 1386 apartments, in February 1306 apartments, in March 1578 apartments, and this number in April reached to 1624 apartments, in May 1755 apartments and in June reached 1926 Apartment.
